Hello
I started Johnson Psychological Evaluations & Wellness (JPEW) to offer comprehensive, trauma-informed therapy and evaluation services. Traditional psychotherapy and forensic or court-ordered evaluations have become limited in scope, preventing the individual from being truly seen. Treatment options offered are often stale or repetitive.
At JPEW everyone is an individual; seen for all of their complexities and inherent strengths. Evaluations and therapeutic services offered are comprehensive and trauma-informed. Interventions and evaluation recommendations are collaboratively developed and target the underlying issue through creative, personalized, and scientifically informed options.
My Story
I bring 13 years of experience providing therapeutic and evaluation services to eastern Pennsylvania. I'm also a certificated yoga instructor with multiple areas of training. Whether meeting with someone for an evaluation or stepping into the therapist role, I believe it is critical to fully appreciate each person's unique life experiences and worldview. I'm equally comfortable collaborating with clients as I am conducting evaluations, testifying in the courtroom, or teaching yoga.

My path to becoming an embodied therapist has been a natural evolution. I am formally trained as a Clinical Psychologist with a Forensic specialization. For years I provided evaluation and therapeutic services to those involved in family and criminal courts. A pattern of trauma and difficulty managing emotions or recognizing how they manifest in their bodies surfaced. I found that traditional therapeutic methods superficially addressed their needs or provided temporary relief from stressors. Emerging mental health research also began to acknowledge the relationship between trauma, our bodily experience, and how we respond to the demands of life. As a result, both the evaluation and therapeutic worlds transformed. I personally began noticing the same therapeutic benefits of trauma-informed therapy in my yoga practice. Medical and mental health research on the impact of yoga on the body, brain, and nervous system is now well established. The combination of my professional and lived experiences and evolving research prompted me to explore, and commit to, an embodied approach to therapy and trauma-informed evaluations.
